STOA is the journal of the Institute of Philosophy of the Universidad Veracruzana, which aims to serve as a forum for dialogue and discussion among specialists and academics from philosophy or other fields of knowledge who bring their concerns to reflection on ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of culture, philosophy of history, philosophy of science, philosophy of law, philosophy of religion, analytical philosophy, history of ideas, philosophical anthropology, sociology, economics, and everything related to human action as a thinking being.

STOA is a journal committed to the Spanish language, which is why it makes a strong commitment to it as a language of philosophical dialogue, alongside Portuguese and English.

STOA is published semiannually in February and August, accepting contributions from around the world but with a special focus on Ibero-America. Its interests cover philosophical issues in general, with a wide range of content and perspectives, but with rigor in their treatment.
