Abstract
El presente estudio se aboca a analizar la idea de que la esencia es el núcleo constitutivo, fundamental y tipificante dentro de la entidad, constituido por un constructo coherencial de notas físicas. Al εἶδος se le atribuyen marcos categoriales mutuamente incompatibles. La realidad carece de ser constitutivo. La esencia es una elaboración mental surgida a instancias de la intencionalidad de la mente: ésta, en su esfuerzo por inteligir la realidad, demarca o configura una especie.
