Abstract

If we understand the core of Ortega’s theoretical project as the attempt tothink of a philosophy beyond idealism, its experimentum crucis in success or failure, beyond the self-consciousness or subjectivity, a form of the self that, without denyingthe evidence in the first instance as self-awareness, discovers behind that initial constitution , one more reality of the window. As an ingredient in human life, in articulation with the world, it is the project or program of free life that is revealed as a vocation. It is that our life, which ̈ıs given to us without doing”, must or better, has to acquirea certain figure of existence. The imperative of Píndaro, which presides over Ortega’s ethics, ”becomes who you are”, encloses that mandate to execute in the circumstancethe call that our destiny takes us, to give life to the ideal character”that each one has inside.
