The Religious Roots of Historicism

Abstract

Starting from basic concepts such as religion, philosophy, history, matterand form, historicism will be analyzed, delving into its religious roots in the thoughtsof antiquity and Greek philosophy. It is shown that historicism is not only a merely historical-scientific trend or current, but that its roots appeal to absolute starting pointsthat come from antiquity, and that said appeal generates mixed results
