Abstract
This article explores the meaning of the city in María Zambrano’s philosophy. Given that, the city is for her a geographical and historical "place," the paper begins by analyzing Zambrano's conception of history in relation to time, poetic reason, and above all hope. Bellow we will see that hope is situated in the orbit of feeling and it is essential to knowledge of soul that is not afraid to descend to underworld. On these foundations we can build a city capable of embracing and being inhabited by persons who are trained in the practice of true democracy.
